Easter in England

This Easter was definitely one for the memory books.  Even though we were far away from family this year, we where still able to spend the day with people we loved.  Our good friends, Josh & Cait, asked us to spend the Easter weekend with them in their adorable town of Lincoln, England.  We were all on our way back from a trip to Scotland (more on that later), so it worked perfectly to spend a few extra days with them.

They took us on a little tour of their town and walked climbed the steep road to the top where Lincoln Cathedral is located.  This church began being built in 1088 and used to be the tallest building in the world for about 250 years!!  It was also used in the movie The Da Vinci Code.

Josh & Cait

It was so beautiful inside.

Incredible stain glass windows.

I definitely plan to visit them again and do a little bit of boutique shopping next time.  ;)

Their home is the perfect English cottage!

Cait was sweet enough to borrow some baby items for us and also try to help me take some Easter photos of Maggie.  Magg's got one look at the baby doll and did NOT want to let it go.  She has definitely started exerting her will these days...  Oh we are so in for it!

This was the look we got every time we tried to get the doll out of the shot.

Outfit change and Cait being silly to get a smile out of this girl.

It was pretty sweet to see her with a baby doll.  I guess I need to add this to my list of gift ideas.  (I mean look at her little eyebrow pointing up!!)

Love this picture of Josh.  Sorry Maggie was being a crank.  She actually really loves these two and even said Josh's name twice!
Thank you guys so much for a lovely weekend and making it so special.  We love you guys!

We got back to our house Sunday evening with just enough time to give Maggie her Easter basket.
The two little baskets on the left were for our friend's little girls.  I pulled out all the stuffed bunnies and bunny books we had for a little decoration around the basket.  The bunny on the left was a gift from Maggie's Meme.  It moves and reads the story of Peter Rabbit.  Maggie is obsessed with it!

I pretty much packed this year's Easter basket with books.  I did grab a few stuffed animals from a Peter Rabbit store in Stratford.  The books in the basket are Fancy Nancy's Elegant Easter, Oh, The Places You'll Go!Peppas Easter Egg Hunt (a british show here), Orla Kiely Creatures and Pat the Bunny.  Don't know how much longer I can get away with doing that!

She mainly just had fun throwing everything out of the basket.

Ryan also had Monday off work so we were able to spend the day with our friends, Clint, Kate & their girls, Claire & Ellie.
We are so thankful that God has placed good friends in our lives all the way over here in England.  I don't know what we would do without them.  Jesus has risen indeed!

Maggie's 1 Year Photos

I went a bit overboard with all the photos I uploaded to this post.  It took about two hours for my slow broadband to download them!  But they were just too cute to not share.  ;)

I was a little late getting Maggie's photo shoot setup for her 1st birthday.  It seems that most people have it done about a month before they turn one.  I had them done a couple weeks after her birthday.  Oh well!  I was really happy how they turned out.  I thought about doing an outside shoot but was nervous about the "always rainy" weather here in England.  Our photographer was the sweetest lady! I have to give her so much credit dealing with our teething baby (9 teeth!).  We had to leave and come back.  Plus, we had to kick daddy out at one point because she gets even fussier when he's around.  All she wants to do is be in her arms.  I don't blame her!  ;)  The photographer definitely worked for her money.  Ha!  Luckily, she was able to capture some great shots that show Maggie's little personality.

I could die over this one.

The blocks were a nice distraction.  She kept wanting to crawl out of the shot.

I made a second smash cake from scratch for this.  It didn't turn out as cute as the first one but it did the job.

Another favorite.

So so happy with these!
