Our Weekend of Firsts

Last weekend was such a fun one for our little family.  It was filled with a bunch of "firsts" for Maggie.  Ryan & I are getting so much joy watching our daughter experience things for the first time, and we can't wait for so many more!

After much research, deliberation and recommendations from our doctor we went ahead and started Mags on solids.  Some of our reasons for doing so were she is big for her age, is able to sit up, showing signs she was interested and it seemed like she was needing a little extra in her diet to fill her up.  We decided to start with Gerber's Oatmeal cereal to make sure she was able to swallow properly and not just push it out with her tongue.

The verdict was...

She LOVED it!  She kept opening her mouth for more and putting her hands up to her mouth to help push it in.  It was so adorable and got us exited to introduce her to more foods!  We are going to start with avocado, sweet potatoes and bananas (every three days).

We captured her first bites on camera.  Please ignore my annoying voice and my inability to talk correctly!!  I always panic when I know I'm on camera.  Ha!

Another first this past weekend was putting Maggie in her little pool!  I don't know why it took us so long to finally try it out.  She had almost out grown her swimsuits!

She couldn't quite figure out what she was doing in water outside and in clothes.  Ryan filled it up with warm water he brought from inside the house.  We knew she would freak if the water was too cold.  She lasted for a little while before she had had enough.

Daddy letting her air dry in the swing.

The next day Maggie enjoyed another summer day watching her dad do some yard work.

She really worked up a sweat so we decided to try out the pool again.

She lasted a little longer this time but I think we were a little too close to nap time.  :)

So I brought out the bubbles to distract her.

I love these pictures of her face.

Had to get one last shot of the back of her swimsuit she will only wear once!  We might try and take her to a "real" pool this weekend.  I'll let you know how it goes!

Catching Up

This is pretty much a photo dump post so that I can have all of these in one spot and to catch back up!  Most of these pictures are of friends and family that either visited us or we visited them.  We are definitely blessed to have so many wonderful people in our life and who love Maggie as well.

These next two photos are of Ken & Melinda who stopped in on us while they were traveling through Oklahoma.  We love drop ins!!

Melinda & Maggie

Our good friend, Brittney, stopped in to visit us while she was in town for work.

This is one of my favorite pics of Mags from this past month wearing her new sunglasses I bought at H&M.  She actually really likes to wear them but her nose isn't quite big enough yet to prevent them from eventually sliding down her nose.  :)

Lunch date with our sweet friend, Chelsea.

Uncle Sean & Aunt Emily came in for a fun visit.  Maggie loves them so much!

One of my favorites of Uncle Sean & Maggie.  Sean went to KU if you couldn't tell from his expression.

Maggie sporting her "Auntie Loves Me" onesie.

We celebrated our good friend, Camden's, second birthday.  Side note, how is that possible?? I thought we just went to his first birthday party just a few months ago!!  That post here.

Maggie partying it up. ;)

Um, I didn't realize how hard it was going to be to get a decent picture with kids.  Ha!

Maggie has been working on learning to sit up on her own.  (She actually can now sit up by herself for a few minutes or so on her own since she turned 5 months old!)

We have been enjoying family walks this summer when it hasn't been too hot (or when Maggie tolerated being in the stroller).

Me, Megan & Kara
We spent a week in Kansas City and one of the reason's we went back was to celebrate my friend, Megan's, 30th birthday.  Her birthday is just 2 days before mine.  It was an 80's themed, rollerskating party.  The three us of pictured above were all best friends from high school & college.

Maggie & I were also able to attend Kelley's bridal shower in KC.  We have known each other our entire lives.

Can't wait for her wedding in September!

Having fun with Nana.  We were so grateful that Nana watched Maggie for us a few times while we were in town so that we could go out to dinner, run errands and see friends.  You're the best!

Sorry so many of these pictures are blurry.  I take most of my pictures now with my cell phone.  I need to be better at grabbing my nice camera every now and then.  Anyway, this was our friend, Brandon, holding our not so happy baby.

We were wishing Brandon & Cynthia a farewell as they were moving to Denver to start new jobs.  We are going to miss them so much but at least we have even more reasons to make it out to Colorado more!

We always have a ton of play dates every time we're in town.

Visiting Mag's Great Grandmother is also a must.

Maggie & Melissa at a play date at her house.

Maggie & Caden at another play date.  I think Mags is feeling deprived since we've been home with no babies to play with!

Just a few more snapshots from our KC trip.  Can you tell that our trips there are marathons to see all our loved ones??  I didn't even get pictures of everyone we saw!

That pretty much catches us up now.  There are a lot more pictures from this past month on my instagram account if you want to follow me there.  My username is ebrigl.

5 Months Old

 photo 80d66d9b-f4e4-4a53-90b0-b4492e6860d2_zps9a443356.jpg

This month has been a whirlwind! Maggie went on her first plane ride, friends & family visited us, we spent a week in Kansas City, celebrated friends & family's birthdays and her momma turned 30!

I feel like I just blinked and my baby girl was 5 months old!  I'm so not ready for the rest of her childhood to go this quickly.  :(  The big news this month is that this little girl is FINALLY sleeping through the night, like 12 hours straight!!  There are definitely still nights where she will wake up once for a feeding (been happening the last few days) but I will take that any day over what we were dealing with.  I also can say that I have her on a little schedule for about a month now.  I plan to make a separate post about all of this soon.  My next post is going to be a much needed dump of pictures from all our adventures this last month.  On that note, does anyone have a good way to keep all your million pictures organized and backed up??  I am quickly becoming overwhelmed by my thousands of pictures...

On to our monthly chair photos!
I finally got her to smile in these photos!

I swear she just keeps getting cuter and cuter everyday!

She's definitely starting to develop a little personality.  One of my favorite things is when she wrinkles up her nose when she smiles.  I also love it when I will be doing something and then look over at her and she's been smiling at me the whole time.  Melts my heart!  She definitely likes to keep an eye on me.  Ha!

Like I mentioned above, I turned 30 this past month on August 2nd.  It was a very surreal feeling to be leaving my 20's.  So many wonderful things have happened to me in this decade, and to be honest I've never really thought much about my 30's.  If looking back on the last 10 years is any indicator on how wonderful my next 10 years will be... well then bring it on!!
Posing with my best girl on my B-day.

I'm one lucky girl.

Birthday wishes from my baby.  ;)

My mom came to visit for my big day and also babysit so Ryan & I could have a night out on the town.  He took me to a fancy steak house and then to a comedy club.  I felt like a young 20 something again.  Ha!

My mom was so sweet to bring this gorgeous birthday cake with her all the way from KC.

We definitely stretch out birthdays as long as we can our these parts.
