Another Video Post

I've been trying to get better at capturing "Maggie" moments on video.  I know I will really regret not having them later in life if I don't make an effort.  But it's so hard to remember to grab my phone and nowadays she will stop what she's doing because she becomes more interested in the phone.  :)

This first video I titled it "Mommy of the year award" because I accidentally made her cry!  It was so sad.  I used to make this noise with my tongue because she seemed to be interested in the sound, and would make the cutest faces.  Well, apparently I was just scaring the crap out of her the whole time.  Ooops!

She has also started to really "talk" recently.  It is so funny because it seems like she really is concentrating to make these sounds.  This first video is more of her cooing and the second one is more of her  "talk".

One of the most adorable thing Mag's does is this face and little noise she makes when wind hits her face.  Ryan loves to play with her in front of a fan, and I just blow on her face.  Ha!

And the biggest news of all.... she has started to really giggle!!!  I cried the first time I heard her do it, and so far I've been the only one to get her to laugh.  Score one for mommy!  I just melt every time I watch this video.

Sorry for the video overload!

4th of July!

Hope everyone had a happy and safe Fourth!  I know we did.  :)
We sort of had an extended celebration.  In the past years we always try to celebrate this holiday back on Ryan's family's farm.  This year the 4th happened to coincide with wheat harvest so there wasn't time to shoot off fireworks.  We still had fun though because Ryan's aunt and uncle came in town from Florida for a quick visit.

Maggie all strapped in for our road trip.

Love this face.

Spending time with Papa (both Papa's!).

Her favorite this is to fly through the air these days.

This weekend was so fun because we got to see the whole family!

Maggie & Meme playing

She also only wants to stand nowadays.  I'm definitely getting a good arm workout since I'm constantly having to hold Mag's in a standing position.  Ha!

Meme, Aunt Sally & Uncle Evan
She was pretty much the center of attention all weekend long.  Ha!

Patriotic baby

After a wonderful visit with family, we headed back home to celebrate the 4th with our neighborhood friends.  We are really lucky to have so many good friends that all live in our same "hood".

Our little fam.

Our (slobbery) bomb pop.

Waiting for the fireworks to be lit by our neighbors.  Mag's was pretty worn out by this point as you can tell, and her poor little onesie was completely stretched out.  Ha!

She really did so well even with the heat and loud noises.  I can't wait for next year because I think she is really going to enjoy the firework show for real!  It's so surreal to think I'll be chasing her around this time next year and trying to keep her away from the sparklers.

I made this festive dessert pizza for the occasion.  I loved it so much that I think this will be a new tradition for each 4th of July!  I'm sure most of you have either made or tried this before, but just incase I'll list the recipe I used below.

4th of July Dessert Pizza

  • Butter a large jelly roll pan
  • Roll out 2 packages of sugar cookie dough (store bought) into the shape of a flag in the pan leaving an inch from the sides to allow expansion
  • Bake the dough according to the package instructions.  You may need to add an additional 5 minutes or so.  Just watch for the edges to become golden brown.
  • Beat together 8 oz of cream cheese, 8 oz of Marshmallow fluff and 1 tsp of Vanilla Extract
  • Spread onto the baked cookie dough once it has cooled
  • Wash and slice the fruit as needed and place on top!
Delish!

My 0-3 Month Favorites

My 0-3 Month Favs

1. Uppababy Vista Stroller - I LOVE this stroller!  It is really well made and is a great design.  It comes with so many accessories that you would normally have to pay extra for in any other stroller.  This can also become a double stroller too with just a simple attachment.  We have been very happy with this so far!

2. 4Moms Infant Tub Clean Water Flows In, Dirty Water Flows Out - We originally bought the Puj bathtub but it just didn't really work with our sinks.  Plus, our baby was already pretty big when she was born and had a hard time fitting into it.  So, we researched a little more and found this one.  It has been so great!  We love that it tells you when the bath water is at the right temperature, the dirty water flows out and it's a great size for Maggie.  She loves to slash and kick around in it.

3. Miracle Blanket - This has been the only swaddle that Maggie hasn't houdinied her way out of.  We even tried the ones with velcro, and she could still get her arms out of them.  We stopped swaddling her about a month ago when she started inch worming her way around the crib and getting stuck.  But we loved it when she was at the age to be swaddled!

4. Dr. Brown's BPA Free Baby Bottles 8 Oz. Pink 3 Pack - Maggie has had a lot of gas issues even being completely breastfed.  We've tried a couple different kinds of bottles but Dr. Brown's seem to be the only one that really helps to reduce her gas pain.  I have even started pumping during the day and feeding her breast milk through a bottle to help with the gas.  I know people talk about the parts being a hassle to clean but it really isn't.  It's just not a big deal to wash them along with the rest of the bottle.  We've been really happy with them so far!

5. Aprica Haven OpenAir Play Yard Twilite - This has been such a lifesaver!  Maggie slept here most of her first two months of life right next to our bed.  It also doubles as a diaper changing station in our room when she's not sleeping in it.  It's been so easy to take with us when we visit family as well.  We still bring her into our room to sleep in it after she wakes up in the early morning hours in her crib so we can sleep a little longer. :)  I really like the look of it too.

6. Aden Anais Classic Muslin Swaddle Blanket 4 Pack - I know I've already talked about the Miracle Blanket but we also really like these muslin swaddles.  They are really light weight and breathable.  I swaddle just the bottom half of Maggie in these during her naps.  I also use them as a light weight blanket to cover her or put underneath her.  I use them for everything!
