A Little Project

Hi friends!
I've been keeping a secret from you guys, and it's been part of the reason that I haven't been blogging that much lately.  I've been working on a little project that leaves me pretty tired at the end of the day...

We are beyond excited and sending up many praises to the big Man above.  It feels like we've wanted this forever and now that it's finally happening it doesn't feel real!  I have so much to fill you all in on.  But for now I'll leave you with pictures from the two sonograms we've had so far.
This was from our 6 week sonogram. So little!

Our 10 week sonogram... so much bigger already!

Another 10 week picture that's a little more zoomed out.

Since the Grandparents live so far away and weren't able to make it to the sonograms Ryan took a little video last time to record all the activity for them.  I'm so glad we did that because sometimes it's hard to tell what you are looking at but in the video you can see the baby's head, arms and legs wiggle!!  I also muted out the sound on the video because I sounded crazy.  Ha!
P.S. You'll see where the screen freezes for a second and that's when the doctor was printing off pictures for us.
P.P.S. Ryan got a little overly excited at one point and zoomed in way too close. Ha!

If you didn't catch that last part in the video, we are due March 16, 2013.  March can't get here soon enough!

Thank you so much for everybody who have been praying and encouraging us through this whole process.  I know we wouldn't be where we are today if it weren't for those prayers.  Stay tuned because I have posts coming up about the background story, how we told our family & friends and of course the bump watch!

Home Updates

I'm back as promised to show you guys what we have been up to in the last few months in our new house.  There are a couple minor things we did and one very large project with lots of impact.

One of the very first things I tackled was the front door.
I really love the size but wasn't crazy about the maroon/purple color.

I've always been a fan of black front doors.  So you guessed it...

I painted it black for a little more pow!

I think it updated it a little bit too.  (I got the "E" from Etsy.)

The big project(s) that "we" tackled were the flooring and baseboards.  I put "we" in quotations because we didn't actually lift a finger unless you count all the cleaning afterwards to rid the dust from the house.  We hired a company to rip out the old tile, hardwoods and carpet, and install new hardwoods and baseboards that are a little thicker.  You'll have to look hard at the baseboards to tell the difference because I didn't get great photos of it.
Entryway before...

Entryway after!  I'm still looking for a killer rug to help define this space.  Any suggestions are welcome!  And I'm still going to paint the walls so I haven't done much with the decorations in here yet.

Living room before...  side 1
(you can see the flooring had been delivered in these pics)

Living room before side 2.... (and a Yogi photo bomb)

Living room after!  The lighting was doing something really strange to my camera.  I promise it's not yellow/orangish.
(10 points to whoever can spot Yogi & KC!)

Again I'm looking for an amazing rug for this room.  I want something larger then I have in there right now as a place holder.  And it needs to be soft!  Again, I haven't put anything on the walls because I want to paint in here as well.  That's definitely up there on my list of things to do.

I didn't show any before and afters of the kitchen or dining room flooring because we have more plans for those spaces that I'll show separately.

And finally the last smaller project Ryan & I tackled.  We painted the fireplace mantel to match our moldings.  It was an oak color before hand (like our kitchen cabinets), but I forgot to take before shots!  You can see it here in the home video tour I did.

I loved how it turned out!  Our next project on the list are the kitchen cabinets!  They will be getting the same treatment as the fireplace mantel.  We are hiring that to be done because it's such a big job!  I can't wait for that to happen, because I know it will have a huge impact on the look of the house.
So much to get done!!

Guess what?!  I'll be back tomorrow with my 3rd post of the week!  I'm getting back into the grove.  :)

Flash Back

So I had planned to post all about the updates we've been doing on our new house today...  I was getting the living room all straightened up and making sure the lighting was good to take pictures but then Fantasy Football happened.  My husband took over the living room and my laptop to draft his fantasy team.  Boo!  Football season is already effecting me. Ha!

In the mean time, I'll just have to post about something else until I can work on it tonight.  Unless my husband changes my plans again. :)  I just so happened to get an email from my friend, Chris, sending me an old safety video that a few of us shot for our company around 5 years ago.  It had Ryan & I laughing so hard at ourselves.  It's really silly and if you have 14 minutes (yes, that long!) to kill somewhere in your day hopefully it will make you smile too.  But it may not be as funny to people that don't know us.  It might be one of those things that you had to be there?

The cast:
Host: Chris
Mower: Sara
(Chris & Sara are parents to Camden.  They weren't married back then!)
Football Player: Ryan (the hubs)
The wacko: Me (I was so skinny back then!)
Weedeater: Austin
BBQer: Jarrad

My favorite parts were:
-Austin's shorty shorts there were actual mine handed down to me from my mom!
-Jarrad have a random accent for no reason...
-Chris actually hurting himself during the safety video when jumping off the retaining wall with a large stick.   You can't really tell in the video but he hit his head and it actually drew blood!
-We all look so young (and skinny!).

This is so out of the ordinary for me but I have two more post coming this week.  I know!  Crazy, right?

Cat with Sleep Apnea

We made it to another Friday!  :)

In honor of the start of a new weekend I thought I would post a fun little video that I snapped of our cat Yogi.  I try not to be too.... crazy cat lady on here, but I have to give them a shout out every now and then.  Both of our cats have their funny quirks, and I couldn't resist sharing one of Yogi's.  This cat snores louder then most humans (but not louder then my mom.... love you mom)!  He's been known to wake us up with his little snorts and wheezing sounds.

Hope this brightens your day!

I'll have to post a video of KC and his little quirk sometime.

Camden's First Birthday Party

You guys!  I am the worst blogger ever.  Sorry it's been so long since my last update.  It's just been so hard to get back into the routine of blogging since we've moved.  I guess I'm still trying to adjust and figure out how to manage my time again.  I promise I will get back to normal soon.  In fact I'll even post a funny little video on Friday.  Two posts in a row!

Trying to catch up a bit, I wanted to post about the cutest birthday party we were able to attend.  Our good friends, Chris & Sarah's, baby boy turned one on August 1st.  So they (Sarah) went all out with the most amazing baseball themed birthday party you've ever seen!
I mean just how creative are these invites we got in the mail??

Part of the food spread.  They also had hot dogs, authentic nachos & cheese, ice-cream in baseball caps and much, much more!

Sarah made this cake from scratch all by herself.  How talented is she??

I loved all the decorations and especially loved that they wanted everybody to sign a baseball so Camden would know who all attended his party when he got older.

With the peanut shells I really felt like I was at a ball park.

This said "Happy Birthday Camden" but I couldn't fit it all in on my camera.

Handsom birthday boy waiting on his cake.

Testing it out...

I think he likes it!

I mean she went all out!

The kids really enjoyed this.  Ryan really wanted to jump in there too.

Janet & her sweet baby boy, Jaxson.

Unfortunately, I didn't snap a picture of Chris or Sarah!  I always do that.  Oh well, the party was so fun, and I couldn't get over how Sarah thought of every detail.  Camden's one lucky little boy!

Last Year In My Twenties

I feel a little in shock that I turned 29 back on August 2nd.  Can I really be in my last year of my twenties??  I feel like I'm still 22 and fresh out of college.  How can I be almost 30?  Yikes!  At least my hubby will be biting the bullet before me and turning 30 this October.  ;)  In some respects I feel like my twenties have flown by but when I think about be 20 it seems so far away.  So many wonderful things have happened during this decade and some hard things too.  I'm definitely going to try and make the most out of my last year in my twenties.  Hopefully this year will hold a lot of wonderful times.

On my actual birthday Ryan surprised me after work and we drove to Tulsa to pick out new golf clubs for me.  It was totally unexpected and way too generous of a gift!  But Ryan being Ryan, wasn't going to let me walk out of the golf store empty handed.  Ha!  It took me a good 2 hours to swing every club they had before I finally made up my mind.  I'm really excited to try them out soon.

By the time that was done it was already 8:30 so we just grabbed a quick bit to eat at Logan's Roadhouse.  Mmmmm bread....  Then my mom came down this past weekend to help celebrate.  All and all it was a wonderful birthday, and my friends & family made me feel so special.

(At the Bartlesville farmer's market enjoying a fresh cherry limeade.)

On a side note, I've been tagged by two different blogger buddies to participate in a fun little get to know you game.  So in honor of my birthday I'm giving it a shot!  Here it goes.

*Post 11 random facts about myself
*Choose 11 deserving bloggers and tag them in my post (200 followers or less).
*Tell the chosen bloggers that I’ve tagged them.
*Answer 11 questions the tagger has asked me, and give 11 questions to the people I’ve tagged. I'm not allowed to tag back the blogger who chose me.

11 Random facts about myself:

1. This is hard!  I have a pillow that I can not sleep without.  I take it with me everywhere and freak out if I left it behind.  I really don't sleep well without it.  I wrap it around my head to block out any light.  That started when we brought a TV into our bedroom and Ryan would watch shows while I was trying to sleep.  So now it's just a habit.

2.  I once had a nose ring in college.  I remember getting it the beginning of my sophmore year of college on my sorority's bid day.  I was with a few other Pi Phi's that had it done too.  It only lasted about 6 months or less because my allergies were so bad I was always rubbing my nose and irritating my nose ring.  (too funny!)

3.  Staying with the theme of piercings, I also got a belly button ring on my highschool senior year spring break in Miami!  What was I thinking getting it done at some random shop in Miami??  That didn't last long either...

4.  One of my pupils is bigger then the other.  Sometimes it's more obvious then other times but it freaks my husband out every now and then.  My mom had it checked out when I was little and everything came back fine.  I also have a lazy eyelid that gets really bad when I'm tired.  I must look like a freak!

5.  I do not sleep well by myself.  I hate it when Ryan travels for work.  I have to sleep with the closet light on...  And I still toss and turn all night.

6.  I changed my major 4 times in college (and still graduated in 4 years!).  I never really knew what I wanted to be when I grew up.  I still don't!

7.  I'm an only child raised by a single mother.  It was definitely hard at times but I wouldn't trade that experience.  We had amazing family surrounding and supporting us.  I never felt like I missed out on anything.

8.  I toy with the idea of having a bigger family.  I always said 2 maybe 3 kids.  But now that we've been struggling to have them, I think I want 12!  Ok, probably not that many but it would be fun to have a bunch of kids running around.

9.  I've owned 10 different cars in my life time and 8 of them before I met Ryan.  And it wasn't because I totaled them!  I swear I've never totaled a car.  Crazy, right?!

10.  I can't make up my mind what style to decorate our house in.  Sometimes I'm more traditional (Pottery Barn), other times more rustic (Restoration Hardware) and then I have the modern side (Crate & Barrel).  I guess I've just been blending all the styles together, and I have no idea what I'm doing!

11.  I can't think of 11 random facts about myself.  I'm boring!  Umm, how about I'm extremely accident prone?  One of my elementary school teachers said my middle name should have been Grace because it would be so ironic.  When all the kids in school were winning most talented awards or most athletic, I was won the band-aid award...

The questions my blog friends asked:

1. Which actor would play you in a movie of your life?
I can't think of any actresses that I think I resemble but my favorite actress right now is Rachel McAdams.  So I guess I'd pick her.

2. Since it's Olympic time, what sport would you compete in if you were an Olympian?
I would have to say volley ball.  That's the only one I probably would enjoy playing over and over again.  Plus you can still look girlie.  :)

3. Favorite thing to do for a girls' night?
I love just getting in our pjs, ordering in food and laughing until we cry kind of nights.  Nothing fancy.

4. Drink of choice?
Dr. Pepper!  (of course)
5. If you could throw any type of party, what would it be like and why?
I love to throw cookout parties.  They are just laid back and the grill always smells so good.  (And maybe throw in a dance party at the end of the night!)
6. What do you want to be when you "grow up"?
I kind of talked about this already in my random facts but I had no idea.  The only thing I knew I wanted to be was a mother.
7. When do you consider people to be an "adult"?
I would say when they get a real full time job and live out on their own paying real bills!
8. What's your favorite candy?
This changes all the time but right now Pay Days.

9. What is your idea of fun?
Having absolutely nothing planed and just vegging out.  Am I boring or what??
10. Top on your wish list for travel destination?
There are so many it's hard to chose.  I've always wanted to go to Hawaii, London and France.  But it would also be fun to go some place more exotic too.
11. If you had to change your name what would you change it to?
This is a hard one.  My mom said she wanted to orginally name me Elizabeth.  That's pretty but pretty common.  When I was little I could come up with a million names but I got nothing now.

I tag whoever wants to play along!!  Join in on the fun.

And I will leave you with a picture I took of our kitties to send to Ryan since he's out of town this week.
Two cats & a chicken

This post got long!!
