Georgia May's Celebration

I'm sort of delayed in posting about Georgia May's celebration weekend.  It was so wonderful.  I think it was the first time that all the family was together (minus Uncle Bob) since over 5 years ago??  The weekend was filled with reconnecting and spending cherished time together.  It was neat to have everyone to the farm and hear their memories of it as a child.  My husband's small town and farm are a very special place for a lot of people.
We all gathered in Georgia's house before the service and talked about the days events.  One of the special things the cousin's were doing that day was a little song they performed for Georgia and her husband, Wendell, back on their 50th anniversary.  They were going to perform it again at the reception.

Can you guess what the song is from their movements?
Here's a little treat for you.  :)

The service was amazing.  All of Georgia's 5 kids got up and spoke about time with their mom and even Ryan & Sally shared.  Ryan opened up in prayer and scripture, Sally gave the main talk! Amazing.
Afterward, we had a big pizza party.  There were so many people there that I think Harlan ordered around 30 pizzas!  I don't think everyone came to the reception that was at the church but the church was filled.  At some point during the service it was mentioned that Georgie would have rathered everyone stayed home and read a book.  Ha!

These are just some pictures of the reception.

The big performance!

I really hope that the whole family will continue to get together at least once a year.  It's so special when everyone is all together.

  1. That is fabulous! We sing that song too! Looks like so much fun!!!

  2. She seems like such a special lady with a wonderful family. What a great way to honor her.

I'd love to hear from you!
