Well, Ryan & I are still trying to recoup from all the Christmas festivities.  We did so many fun things and got to see some great people.  I can't wait to share all the details (like I always do).  :)
I came home yesterday from work to this...

Poor Ryan got sick this week, which never happens.  So when it does, I know it's bad.  He was trying to take a nap before I got home, and the kitties decided to join him.  I couldn't help but bust out laughing and take some quick pics with my phone.  I think they could sense he wasn't feeling good so they were trying to make him feel better.  :)

So sweet.

We still really haven't slowed down since Christmas ended, but I think this Sunday we will finally be able to rest.  (No wonder Ryan got sick.)  Hope everyone is recovering from Christmas in time for New Years!  We will be attending a wedding that night.  More to come soon!

Custom Stamps

I've finally gotten all my Christmas cards sent out.  It's so hard tracking down everybody's address because it seems people are constantly moving.  I guess I have no room to talk though.  ;)  I'll be posting my card soon on here so you all can see it.  Every year I always try to dress up the envelop with a Christmas stamp and a really cute address stamp (I use this all year long).

Over the years I've gotten a lot of compliments on my address stamps.  Several people have asked where I got them and so I thought I would share with you all too!  They are so fun and dress up any envelope.  It definitely brings style to your letters and Christmas cards.
This was the very first stamp I purchased when we lived in Oklahoma.  We had just bought our first house, and I wanted to make it official with an address stamp.  I loved it!

This was the second stamp I purchased when we moved to Texas for the second time.  It's a little bit more traditional.  This was a fun one too.

I just recently purchased this address stamp for our new home in Kansas.  I wanted to be more whimsical and fun with this last one.  I even went with a purple ink this time too.  Go State!

There are so many varieties out there and if you have children there are ones that have room to put the whole family's names on it.  And even if you just wanted a cooking stamp and not do an address they have those too.  Check out these two websites.  I've purchased from both of them and they are great.  Hope you like them!

First Christmas Party

This past Friday Ryan & I were able to attended our first Christmas party of the season.  It was hosted by Ryan's cousin, Ali, at her gorgeous bungalow house in Brookeside.  Unfortunately, I didn't end up taking any pictures!  So I stole one from Ali's facebook and one from her blog.  :)
Uncle Alan, Cousin Ali (with fabulous new red hair!) and Aunt Linda

Ali had quite the spread of food and desserts.  I totally wish I would have snagged a picture of the table.  We didn't know very many people at the party so I was a little intimidated whipping out my big honking camera and taking a ton of pictures.
She also had a room designated for cookie decorating.  So cute!
Just look how cute her little place cards were to tell you what the food was.  There were even cute ornaments as party favors that Ali made.  She is so creative and an incredible cook.  Do yourself a solid and visit her cooking site here.  You will not regret it!

First Snow Day

We had our first snow day last weekend.  I didn't think that we would get more then a flurry.
But we ended up getting a fair amount.  It was really weird watching the snow swirl across the streets at night.  It was kind magical, or just really windy.  :)

You can see from my tracks that it was pretty deep for an early December snow.  It's so weird to be living somewhere again that actually gets snow.  It's starting to feel a lot like Christmas!

*Yes I realize our pumpkins are still out but no worries.  Ryan tossed them this week.

Few of My Favorite Things

Does anyone else go on "kicks" with products they are obsessed over?  I just can't get enough!  I thought it would be fun to write a Few of My Favorite Things post.  This one is centers more around products that I love using in the winter.

My absolute favorite candles by far are the Beanpod brand.  Their smells are to die for and they are made out of soy!  So the wax will never get too hot and you can even put your fingers in it and it's good for the cuticles.  :)  My two favorite scents for the holidays are Cinnamon Spice & Hot Apple Cider.  They just fill my entire house with their glorious aroma.  They even have a brand new look to their containers.  LOVE LOVE.

I've really been on a kick lately with the Mrs. Meyer's cleaning products.  They are great cleaning products that really do clean but smell so good.  I really hate the cloroxy smell so I went crazy over these.  They even have holiday scents if you can still find them!

I went to get my hair cut a few weeks back at an Aveda salon near my house.  I've actually never been to one before.  A-mazing.  A roommate in college always used their products, and I didn't ever get into them.  For some reason I've decided to tryout their shampoo and conditioner for a change and love it.  I feel like it's done wonders for my hair.  Even Ryan likes using it.

Now to my survival list of products that are a must have for the DRY winter months.  This Kansas weather is killing me!  :)
Ryan's mom actually turned me on to the next two products I will be introducing you to.  Thank you Susan!
Gold Bond Ultimate has been attached to my hip for at least a month or two now.  It's sitting right in front of me on my desk.  I know most people don't really think of Gold Bond when they want to go get some lotion.  It is seriously the best hand lotion I've ever tired.  Even all the guys at my work come and steal my lotion because it's so good.  (Note:  Good Christmas gift for the guys at work.)  It comes in a few different scents.  The one listed below is just what I have currently.  I will try some of the other ones too.

My legs and arms have been itching so much this year that I thought I was going to go crazy!  Susan told me she survives off of Johnson's baby oil gel.  Make sure you get the gel!  It can be a little messy but oh so worth it.  It has renewed my skin and I'm no longer scratching my skin off.  It has saved the day.

Last but certainly not least, is Aquaphor Ointment.  I was introduced to this product when I used to work for a dermatologist.  They recommend using the ointment as an actual chap stick for your lips.  This product has saved my lips from constantly being dry, cracked and bleeding.  It seems to be the only thing that works for me.  I'm so obsessed with this.  This is definitely my go to lip saver.  Highly recommend.  :)

Hope this helps anyone that is searching for that perfect product.  This was fun!

Christmas Tour of Homes

Welcome to the Christmas Tour of Homes!  Thanks for stopping by.
For those of you who are regulars, I'm participating in The Nester's Tour of Homes.  Go there and join in on the fun!

For those of you who are new, my husband and I just moved back home and into our new house.  So please forgive me because I may also talk about what I want to change in some of the pictures.  :)

First off when you come into our home you will see in our entryway our Willow Tree nativity set.  I try to add something to it each year.  This time around I will be adding the angel (haven't quite made it to the store yet).
*Side note-  I will be changing the wallpaper in the background.  Please ignore.

Our dining room with fresh cut garland.  This is the first year that I did live garland.  It's so pretty but messy!  I'm still looking for that perfect table runner or cloth for this dining table.
*This room will be painted before Christmas.  Stay tuned.

I bought this little decoration last year and love it.  It even came with a stick so you can make it an outdoor decoration too if you wanted.

Our eat in kitchen.

Our decorated piano.  We still haven't hung anything on the walls because we still have to paint everything.  SO MUCH PAINTING!!

Our fireplace in our den.  One of the projects we are tackling in this room is installing a much needed mantle.

So since there was no mantle we had to improvise.  Our newly built entertainment center took on the job of hanging our stockings with care.  I added a little fresh garland here as well.

These are just a few pictures of little decorations around the house.

You can't go without mistletoe!!

I'm so excited about our Christmas tree this year!  We didn't have one for the past two years so I couldn't wait to get one for our new home.  There's just nothing like the scent of a pine tree filling up your home.

This year I finally purchased our tree skirt and it turned out so cute!

Our festive staircase.

And finally, our outdoor Christmas lights!  Next year, we plan to add lights to the second floor so it doesn't feel left out.  The hubs will finally have to buy that latter!
Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed the tour.

Last Minute Christmas Gift Ideas

I don't think there's any secret how much I love  I heavily relied upon it when I lived in a smaller town in Oklahoma when there weren't many shops around.  When I moved to Houston I thought I would actually be able to get out and shop more, but the traffic and the fact it takes an hour to get anywhere still had me shopping online.  So my love for Amazon stayed strong.  For some reason, the other day I started looking through my purchase history.  It got me thinking that some of these things would be excellent Christmas gifts!  So I put a lot of ideas together on one page for anyone looking for last minute ideas.  You can click HERE or on my sidebar to the right.

Hope some of these ideas help.  I love all the things you can find on the internet in the comfort of your own home.  No need to brave the crowds.  :)

Have we changed much??

Phil's 30th

This past Friday was our friend, Phil's, 30th birthday!  I can't believe a good majority of our friends are already embarking on their thirties.  I guess we aren't far behind.  :)  Ryan couldn't be there because he had to "work".  I put that in quotes due to the fact that he was in Dallas at the Big 12 Championship.  I guess he was with clients though...  Anyway, he hated missing out on Phil's B-day.
Megan (Phil's wife) organized an amazing birthday bash with all their friends and family.  She did a great job with everything.  Megs even made a sweet collage of Phil's youth.  I really liked the cake she picked out too  (of course).  She rented out a room at the Granfalloon down in the Plaza, and it was the perfect setup.

Phil about to blow out his candles.  He's from Nebraska so everything was red.

Megan's mom, Peggy, was there, and it was great catching up with her.  Everybody loves Peggy so we all had to get our picture taken with her.  :)  Here's Kara with her.
Peggy & I

Peggy & Matt
She is such a neat lady and we're always excited to see her.
Kara & Matt were my dates for the night since Ryan wasn't there.  We had a good time.  Somebody please get me a spray tan quick!!  And what is Matt doing with his arm?

The whole gang (minus Ryan).  I love that Meg, Kara & I all went to high school and college together, and we are still friends.  Plus our husbands all went to K-State too.  Phil & Matt are both from Nebraska.  Ryan & Matt both were fraternity brothers together.  AND Phil & Ryan were both engineer majors!  Too funny.
