Girls Weekend

The second to last weekend before we left for KC, I decided it was overdue to see my good friend Katie who moved to Dallas recently. I knew it would be a lot harder to see her once we moved. It just so happened that her hubby was out of town so it ended up being a girls weekend! Which of course means you eat girly food, shop, and watch chick flicks!!
Katie took me to this place called Bread Winners and oh. my. gosh. It was fabulous!! I died and went to heaven. This place was made for me! :) If you are ever in the Dallas area this is a must to visit.

Funny story about that picture of the Banana Foster waffle above. Katie wanted to try the cream that the waffle was topped with so I just gave her the ramekin with the extra cream that the waiter brought out for me. She took a huge bite of it and immediately looked like she was going to be sick. I had no idea why she was freaking out. Apparently, the ramekin of cream the waiter brought out was actually pure butter that just happened to look like cream!! So Katie thought I was eating a TON of butter on my waffle!! We were dying laughing. I'm glad that she finally believed me that I wasn't just eating pure butter but I guess cream really isn't too far off.

After the lunch episode we got in some shopping time and then headed back to her house to swim in the 90 degree pool. It was still fun though. ;) A good chunk of our day was spent playing with Jon & Katie's new puppy, Hans Blitzkrieg Gunner Pumpkin (aka Hans). He already knew so many tricks and did this really cute army crawl.

The army crawl... This video does not give him justice.

It was so good to see Katie again and spend some quality time together. I miss her so much!!

Please come visit when we buy a house Katie!!! Plus I know you have mad skills in the painting department and could help a sista out. ;)

We Made It!!

We are officially in Kansas City!! Sorry I fell off the face of the planet but I am alive... barely. :)
Ryan & I rolled into town Friday night after a hectic month of preparation for the big move. There are still a ton of loose ends to tie up but we're getting there (selling our old house, buying a new one and finding me a job). Just hang in there with me and I promise to get back to this blog that's been totally neglected. Thank you to everybody's well wishes. It's been a hard transition, much harder then I thought it would be. But it's so good to be around family again. I have so much to share with everyone!! Stay tuned.

Missing My Babies

Ryan & I are really missing our kitties. We didn't think we would be away from them this long! Everything is going sooooo slowly, and I'm really learning some big lessons on patience. It's weird coming home and not having KC greeting us at the door, and then finding Yogi being lazy on the bed. I didn't realize how much I looked forward to seeing them each day until they were gone. They were my daily source of entertainment and they helped to de-stress us.

Our amazing in-laws have so graciously kept them for us during this whole moving process. I know they are living it up on the farm (in doors). They have the run of the house and get to watch chickens out of the windows all day long. Oh the life of a cat. I think my sis-in-law, Emily, could tell we were really homesick for them so she sent us some pics! She's the best! She titled the email "Camouflage Cats" b/c they like to lay on things that they blend into.

Precious KC

Sweet Yogi

This little toot got into Harlan's closet and made a little bed for himself.

I miss these guys so much!! I can't wait to see them and hopefully it's sooner then later.
Don't judge me. :)

Birthday Celebration

On the day of my actual birthday, the hubs took me out to eat for lunch to KFC, finger lickin' good. :) I really like their popcorn chicken, mash potatoes and biscuits, but I know it's so bad for you. You can eat whatever you want on your birthday, though. Ryan surprised me with a bouquet of beautiful flowers. Hydrangeas are one of my favorites!

That night we met our friends for dinner at the Cheese Cake Factory, one of my favs! We are so lucky to have great friends that we have so much fun with. We are going to miss them so much!

And for my birthday present.... Ryan got me the best present a girl could ever ask for!! This freaking amazing camera!!!!!
I am sooooo excited to start using it. Once it arrives at my house I may go a little picture crazy. You thought I was already picture crazy?? Well, you haven't seen nothing yet! Ha! This camera will allow me to have amazing quality in my pictures. If any of you have a DSLR and have some tips let me know! I have an old SLR from high school that only takes film so I'm excited to upgrade to digital finally.

Guadalupe River

Since my birthday fell on a Monday this year we celebrated my b-day the weekend prior. I got to choose what I wanted to do and that was float the river! We hadn't gotten the chance to do it yet this summer so I thought it would be the perfect weekend. In the past we floated the Comal twice so this time I wanted to float the Guadalupe.

Our good friends, Brad & Lindsey, have never been floating in Texas so we were excited to introduce them.

My hubby made sure I had such a fun birthday this year. He's the best. :)

Last time we floated I didn't come prepared with a disposable water camera. I made sure to have one this time! This was where we entered the river.

Oh. My. Gosh. it was freezing!! I guess it was a good thing because it was a blistering hot day. It took Linds & I awhile before we finally would relax in our tub and get wet.

We tried to stay attached to each other most of the time accept when we would hit some rapids and break apart. That was really fun.

It took us about 4ish hours to float the whole thing. Loads of time to relax, chat and sunbathe.

This guy decided it was smart to not put sunscreen on and got completely fried. He's still paying for it right now. Hopefully he learned his lesson... :)

Brotherly love.

It was a pretty packed river and amazing people watching. I think that was the best part!

Anyone that lives in Texas needs to have this experience. I wish I had more time this summer to do it again!

Miscellaneous Wednesday

Ok, I know it's supposed to be Misc. Monday... but this will have to work. I have a bunch of random things that didn't really add up to a whole post. So here we go.

1. You remember my friend's dog, Cooper? Well, I've been spoiling my little friend and buying gifts for the cutie. I was dying to get this fun little toy that's a rubber ball that looks like a tongue. It's seriously too funny. If you watch this video you can't help but laugh.

Little Cooper, actually Ryan thought he was 50 pounds!! Turns out he's only 23 lbs. :)

2. Ryan & I have been trying to hit up all our favorite restaurants before we move and Lupe's was no exception! I will so miss this place. Maybe I should open one up in Kansas. Mmmmm.

3. We've totally lucked out this year with Astro games. Our friends are the best and invite us to watch the games in amazing seats right behind the dugout!
These are our fellow coworkers, Paula & Casey. They are such a fun couple to hangout with. And no, I don't know who the random creepy guy getting his picture taken along with my friends is.

We are really going to miss going to games in Minute Maid park.

4. I'm so freaking out right now because I've watched too much of Shark Week going on right now. I'm NEVER swimming in the ocean again!!!

5. Still no set date of when we're moving yet... Hopefully we can wrap things up soon and get the show on the road. :)

Wow.... am I really 27 today?? That just sounds so old! I feel like I should be a grown up now. :) It really has been kind of trippy for me to be approaching 30 so quickly. I still feel like I should be in college or something!

My husband, family & friends have really helped to distract me and make me feel so special for my b-day. I totally did not deserve it! With all the chaos going on right now, this was a much needed reprieve. THANK YOU GUYS SO SO MUCH!! I feel completely blessed.
My sweet MIL, Susan, made this cute birthday picture for me and I love it! It's so me. I'm so lucky to have the best in laws ever!
