Showering Brittney

This past weekend I had the honor of co-hosting a wedding shower for my good friend, Brittney. It's been awhile since I've been to a wedding shower let alone hosting one! I had so much fun planning and coming up with fun ideas. It really took me back. :)

Of course I had to have a theme! So my co-host, Johnna, Brittney and I all decided on a Kitchen theme. It would be perfect for Brittney's very first shower. Johnna was in charge of the invitations. Didn't they turn out so freaking cute?!

Since my house is on the market, we decided it would be best to have it at Johnna's beautiful place. That way she can show off her new home too! She did a great job with the finger foods. It didn't take me long to shovel them in my mouth. I brought the CRAVE cupcakes. It was a must. :) I should have gotten a better picture of them, because I had them put a navy blue (wedding color) wedding cake cutout on the tops of the cupcakes.

I thought it was the perfect size shower and most of the people knew each other from work. Brittney's mom and sister drove down from Oklahoma to join in on the festivities too.

Brittney's childhood friend lives in Katy and just had a baby 2 months ago!! Their mom's are good friends so they were able to join in on the fun.

The loot.

I think Brittney's mom is ready for some grandchildren, can you tell?

Some friends from work, Cindy, Kim-Ahn, Laura Lee & Angela

I was in charge of the party games. The first one I had everyone answer around 20 questions to see how well they knew Brittney. It was really fun because it sparked so much conversation. The person who got the most right won a fun little gift from Williams-Sonoma. The second game were questions to see how well Brittney knew her fiancé, Mark. If she got an answer wrong she had to chew a sour bubble gum ball. The goal was to try and make her have a huge piece of gum in her mouth at the end. I tried to make the questions hard but she knew most of them!! You go girl!

Showing off her prize for playing the game.

Then it was on to opening gifts. Brit hit the mother load with her first gift!! Her family friends gifted her with an amazing Chrome KitchenAid Mixer!! How can you top that?

Her mom handmade this adorable apron. On the reverse side are polka dots! Can you just die b/c how cute it is??

Brittney struck it big.

So precious!!!

I think it's really starting to feel real for her and the wedding is coming up so soon! Can't wait!!

Quick Trip Home

From the sermon on the mount: “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to to his span of life?… Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

OH man has these words helped me through these past couple of weeks. I've needed to remind myself over and over again that God is in control of Ryan & I's lives. Yes, we are extremely excited to be going home, but in the same breath there is so much uncertainty. God has been so evident in our lives recently and through all the unknowns I know he continues to work. I can't wait to see what is in store in our near future.

We just got back from a "house hunting" trip to Kansas City this past Tuesday. We were there for about 5 days and it was jammed pack with touring houses. I think we looked at close to 40 homes!! We really want to sell our house first before we buy another one but we did get a better idea of where we want to live. So it was a successful trip.

On the way to KC, Ryan & I stopped off in his home town to drop our kitties off at his parent's house. We were able to have a short visit with them and ate at one of the local restaurants. They are so amazing to keep our "babies" until we move. It is a little tricky to have two cats when your trying to sell your house.

On this trip we were also able to celebrate my mom's birthday! I'm so happy we were able to be there for it. My mom requested Red Lobster for her b-day dinner. Ryan & I are NOT sea food people but we sacrificed for my mom. :) We just ordered chicken. Ha!
Ryan cracks me up in this picture with his awkward arm.
I got the waiters to help me sing happy birthday. I hope my mom felt special.

My in-laws were so sweet to make my mom her very own personal apron for her B-day. It totally matches her decor, and she loved it!

After a VERY busy few days in KC we got to drive the 12 hours back to Houston with Lindsey & her dog Cooper. It was fun to get to car pool together and made the trip that much more bearable.

Cooper did so well! This was him almost the entire trip! I was very impressed with this cutie.

It was a good trip spent with family, but it made us even more homesick! We are so ready to be settled again.

Bridal Show

Most of you know that my good friend, Brittney, is getting married. You might have read the engagement story here. I've had the complete joy of helping with some of the wedding plans. I'd like to think that I picked out her wedding dress. :) A few weekends ago there was a huge wedding expo here in Houston and we thought there would be some good ideas there. We had so much fun.

This was probably our favorite cake design. Kidding!!

We made sure to participate in every give away, drawings and activity we could. Brittney even won $40 off the tuxes for the wedding!

Some of the decorations was so freaking amazing and extravagant. It was just so much fun to see all the creations.

This one was a little bizarre... I felt like I was in a night club!

I think Brittney got a lot of fun ideas for decor and flower arrangements.

I mean this bridal expo had everything! We had fun watching the models walk the runway in wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses.

There was all sorts of venues there... weight loss, jewelry, ring cleaners, wedding party gifts, and on and on!

One of Brittney's favorite parts of the show was checking out all the wedding cake designs.

I think my favorite part was the photo booth venues. Several of my friends had them at their weddings and Brit & I had to try them out. Shoot, we got free pics!!

I didn't do so hot on the first go around...

So I had to try it again. I think you can make the pic bigger if you click on it.

We had so much fun! I think Brittney got a lot off good ideas and I hope she wins something cool from all the drawings we entered! Her first bridal shower is coming up this weekend and I can't wait.

Ryan & I have been busy keeping our house clean and making it look like nobody lives there. It's stressing me out. Ha! I'm hopeful for a lot of showings this weekend. Keep us in your prayers. :) We will be heading home soon to do some house hunting and dropping the kitties off with Ryan's parents. That way we don't have to worry about someone letting them out or keeping up with the cat hair. I'm going to miss them though. :(

We only have a few short weeks left in Houston and so we're trying to get in a few last minute fun activities. Some friends of ours had been telling us about a fun bowling alley called 300. So this past Saturday night we decided to check it out. After all, bowling was Ryan & I's first date!

This place was definitely a hot spot. It has large screens up and down all the bowling lanes playing music videos. So that was fun, but I kept getting distracted.

I think it's so funny to see everybody's bowling "style". You can really tell a lot about a person from the bowling form. :) Here's the "look over the shoulder" pose. It's like "ya, I'm good and I know it."

Look at that strong forearm!! The boys kept competing to see who could throw the fastest ball since monitor told you what your mph were.
I'm not sure what my style of bowling means...
Here comes the professional... Brad.
This is the look you will see on his face after he gets a strike.
Mark was very calculated.

I love Brittney's pose here. She was prepared!

Mark & Brittney - There wedding is coming up fast!
I just wanted to let you guys know that I totally dominated. I blew Ryan out of the water with my skills. That's right, I beat him BOTH games!!
He's probably talking smack and giving excuses, but I know the truth. ;)
