Monster Mash

If you haven't figured it out already from the previous post... (I don't think you did). A group of us all woke up at the crack of dawn, actually before that, and went to the Houston race tracks off Beltway 8 to run in a 5K. It was actually supposed to be a 10K but with my foot surgery and all I didn't get in the training I needed to. Our friends and family joined Ryan & I in the Monster Mash race. You were supposed to come dressed up in a costume, so it was fun to people watch.

We couldn't come up with anything good plus we didn't want to have run in something uncomfortable so we all wore these reindeer antlers.
It was so funny because during the race we all heard people talking about the reindeer runners. It was easy to spot us.
Lindsey (whooped up on everybody) & Brad
Love this picture of Mark.
Emily decided last minute to enter. What a team player!
The whole reindeer gang.
Ryan, Mark, Harlan, Brad, Me, Brittney, Emily & Lindsey
We all did really well and Harlan put us all to shame by coming in first out of all of us. It was nothing for him!
Afterward, we got donuts. I figured I deserved it. ;) The rest of the day was spend laying around and a little shopping was thrown in there. That night for Halloween, we invited the gang back over to watch the K-State vs OU game and eat LOTS of food. I made my whole wheat pizza again and it was a hit. I highly recommend you try it!
Ryan checking out the spread.
My favorite part of the night was handing out candy to all the little ones. Oh my were they cute! This was the first year that we lived somewhere that we got a ton of trick-or-treaters. It was so fun checking out their costumes and trying to guess what they were. This is Emily & I fending off a large crowd with candy.
On Sunday morning, the family left to return to the great state of Kansas. It is always hard to say goodbye but we had such a fun weekend with them. Hopefully this will tide us over to the holidays. What did you all do for Halloween??

  1. I can totally relate to how hard it is to say goodbye to your family. But the good thing about living far away is that when people do come visit, they spend at least two FULL days with you and it's kind of a mini-vaca! Looks like you guys had a great weekend! I love the Halloween picture of you and Ryan you have posted on the left...too cute! A while asked about the movie Time Traveler's Wife. So, I assume you like to watch movies. Have you seen The Proposal?! GREAT movie!!!! Hope all is well. Have a wonderful week!!

  2. it looks like you had a lot of fun!! :) i love the running reindeer! adorable. :) i wish i could run! i get tired after about... a minute, perhaps less. i wish i was kidding. it's so sad not getting cute little trick or treaters at my apartment. i got some college aged ones -- not quite the same...

  3. love the reindeer ears. too cute. glad to see you all are having fun and that Ryan had a great birthday!

  4. I've been reading your blog for a while now and am just now commenting :)
It looks like y'all had a fun weekend. My husband and I have run in a couple 5k's and the best part is the people watching :) I love when people run with props!
    Have a good weekend!

I'd love to hear from you!
