Wild Cats & Recipe

Just wanted to give a brief update for those of you that didn't know that KC & Yogi had their back paws declawed. I know, I know. I a lot of people don't agree with that but it was something we researched and thought about for a long time. It was right for our family. They have scratched up every piece of furniture we own. Since we are buying a nice, new couch, coffee table (already have) and leather chair, we decided it was time. I still felt guilty for putting them through it. They are never, ever going to be outdoor kitties. Anyway, their surgery was yesterday, and we picked them up today. They are doing amazingly well! Phew.
Our two cuddle bugs (pre-surgery).
Sorry that I'm posting about my cats so much lately! I promise this is the last one for awhile.

On to the recipe! This is a dip that we like to whip up on game days or even little get-togethers. It's quick, easy and delish! Notice Ryan's pink oven glove. :)
Tailgate Dip
  • 1 small can of mexican corn
  • 1 cup shredded colby/monterey jack cheese
  • 1 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup mayo
  • 1/4 cup chopped jalapenos (some people may just like 1-2 tablespoons)

*Heat oven to 350 degrees. Put all the ingredients into a quiche or pie pan and mix up. Cook until it starts to bubble (around 10 minutes).

I have to give a shout out to my team on the first game day of the season!
I have to admit the Big 12 is looking pretty dang good today!

  1. My parents finally decided to declaw our cat and they say it was the best thing they did. Their couches still look new 3 years later because of it.
Dip looks yummy, I may have to try it out for our home team pretty soon here!

  6. Your kitties are so cute and I think that if they're indoor cats it isn't a problem.

I have never seen this dip recipe, so thank you for posting it. I'll definitely be making this during football games this season!

  7. My dad had a cat and we declawed her. I think it is better because they cannot tear up our furniture and cannot scratch us. I have seen more people with nasty scratches from their cats. So, I think you did the right decision.
