Happy Birthday Mom!

This is a very special birthday for my mom this year. It is her big 6-0 birthday! We started off the year by commemorating her big day with a trip to Italy, where she's always wanted to go. She had never been over seas before. Today she is flying into Houston to celebrate her birthday with Pat & Rocky (coming in from Dallas) and Ryan & I. We have lots planned, and I hope it will be a birthday to remember.

This is Mary Margaret when she was in college. Don't you just love the beehive hair style? I do! I have no idea how she got that volume. My mom got married when she was twenty two, and I followed in her footsteps.
This is us in Colorado when I turned sixteen. My mom wanted me to have a special birthday to remember. We had a blast!
My mom came to every "Mom's Weekend" I had at Pi Phi. She wouldn't miss it for the world.
This "Mom's Weekend" we won the mother, daughter look a like contest. I has just cut my hair short, and we looked like sisters. As many of you know, I am an only child, raised by a single mother. So needless to say, we are pretty close. We've only had each other. Even though we've been through many hard times and the teenage years, we are stronger then ever. I've come to realize just how special my mom is and all the sacrifices she made for me. Looking back, if I had been in her situation, there is no way I would have been half the woman my mom is. She is one incredible lady. This is really a day to be so thankful for and celebrating everything she has accomplished in life.

  1. What a great tribute to your wonderful mother. I'm a single mother to 3 boys and all I can hope for is that when they are older they feel the same way about me that you do about your mother.

Happy Birthday to Ms Mary! Hope you spoil her rotten!

  2. Y'all look so much alike!! I bet they didn't have bumpits (SP?) back in the day! HA!! HAve you seen the commercials for those, I always wondered how they got their hair like that too! She is gorgeous, I hope y'all have a great time celebrating! What a sweet post!
