**UPDATE**Recipe Below**

This Friday on Kelly's Korner "Show Us Where You Live" are nurseries/children's rooms. Since we don't have a child's room to share, we are taking this Friday off. But I am still enjoying looking through the rooms. I'm getting so many good ideas. You know me, I like to plan (way ahead).

Though, I will share that we finally found a pot/vase to put in the corner of our eat in kitchen. I am so excited. We are getting closer to finishing this room. We found this great rustic looking pot in Fredericksburg. After taking one look at it, we new it would be the perfect addition. As soon as I got home I ran out to Hobby Lobby and bought the twisty sticks to go with it.
It brings in the burnt red/orange colors from the living room.

In honor of Katie's birthday, I made some festive cupcakes. I knew she liked the Funfetti cake mix so that was the cupcake part. Then I whipped up some homemade butter cream frosting and dyed it. I also bought some premade and colored fondant at Hobby Lobby. I've heard it's hard to dye fondant to the color you want. Since this was the first time I've worked with it, I decided easier was better.
I had some cookie cutters to cut out the flower shapes and I also picked up some fondant alphabet cutters too. It was surprisingly easy to do! I would recommend this to anyone!
Easy Buttercream Frosting
1 cup (2 sticks) butter (room temperature)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 1b. 10X powdered sugar
1-3 teaspoons milk, half and half or cream

Using a mixer, cream softened butter and vanilla until smooth.
Add sugar gradually, allowing butter and sugar to cream together before adding more.
If you want your frosting a little creamier, add a teaspoon of milk at a time and beat on high until you get the right texture.
Then, just use icing colors to tint the frosting the color of your choice.

Thanks Mom!

After work, on our actual anniversary, Ryan & I tried out an Italian restaurant near our house. I just so happened to be on the phone with my mom when we walked in because she was wishing us a happy anniversary. As we sat down my mom could hear the waiter through the phone and demanded talk to him. I was a little embarrassed and Ryan was mortified that I was handing the waiter my phone to talk to my mom. :) The waiter looked pretty confused like I was trying to punk him or something. She ended up telling him that it was our big day and to give us a free dessert. Ha! Oh moms, they can be so embarrassing sometimes but we did get a free dessert out of the deal. Thanks mom! You're the best! This pic is for you. <3
I also made some cupcakes this week that I will post on later but wanted to show you two that I made just for our anniversary. I was trying out fondant and homemade butter cream icing for the first time. I think they turned out pretty cute.

Three Year Anniversary

Happy 3 year anniversary babe! I truly cannot believe it has already been that long. I know it is a short amount of time in the grand scheme of things but I feel like it was just yesterday when we were saying our vows to each other. Ever since then I have been thanking God every single day we have had together.
God has taken us on an amazing ride and there is no other place I'd rather be then sitting next to you. I have prayed for you since I was a little girl and so have many of my family members. All the things I have asked for in a husband were completely surpassed far beyond what I could have ever imagined. The Lord knows us completely and knew we were the perfect match. I feel at home with you, and I never thought someone could be an extension of me but yet you are. I now know what it means to become one.
In the past three years we have already experienced our fair share of joys and sorrows. From death to birth, to new jobs, to moving three times, buying and selling houses, to my mom's house fire, to health scares in our family and through it all the Lord has shown us how to grow stronger and rely on Him first and foremost. All that said, I know that God has fortified us and strengthened our marriage through the trials.
How would I describe our marriage to each other in the past three years? It's playing cards in bed. It's staying up until 4 a.m. watching a whole season of LOST. It's looking forward to crashing on the couch together to watch our DVRed shows. It's laughing hysterically at the parts of a movie that nobody else thinks is funny. It's cherishing the time we have together driving to and from work because we know it will not last forever (not everybody can IM their spouse at work!). It's getting excited to have lunch with each other everyday. It's making the time every night to listen to each other's day and allowing for each other to destress. It's the surprise dates that make our hearts flutter. It's dreaming about our future. It's allowing each other to not be perfect. It's spending every waking second together and never getting sick of one another (I never knew that was possible). It's our marriage and it's not perfect but it's us.
I have been blessed with a best friend and soul mate for life. I never want to take advantage of the gift God has bless me with. My prayer everyday, is that my love will be more like God's love for you, because there is no love that can compare to it. I can not wait to see what adventures God has in store for our lives.

Happy Birthday Katie!

H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y K A T I E!!!
I have had the good fortune of becoming Katie's friend through ConocoPhillips. She was really my first friend when I started my full time job there. How lucky was I to work in the same group as this hilarious and beautiful girl?? We instantly clicked and she took me under her wing by showing me the ropes. After working together for several months she hit me with the news that her husband was being transferred to Houston. What was I going to do without my life support? Thankfully, Ryan was eventually transferred back to Houston and we were in the same town again though not in the same group. :( Unfortunately, she has recently dropped another bomb shell on me. Her husband is going back to school for his MBA in Dallas and they will be moving at the end of the summer. You have got to be kidding me! Ryan, are we moving to Dallas too? Oh I kid.

First time I met Katie was at a New Hire Network event. We played on the same flag football team and we took no prisoners. Katie & I were on the front line together. See if you can spot us.

(Some of the hilarity's at work :))

Katie, you have been an incredible friend to share life with. I am so grateful for the bible study you invited me to and the community of friends you involved me in, to the nights you allowed me to sleep at your house when Ryan was out of town, to going with me to my favorite restaurant in Bartlesville(McAlisters) at least once a week :) and to all the little thoughtful things you have done. You are the best darn domestic, working woman I know! We have had so many fun times together and it will not be the same with out you. I guess I am just going to get fat without my workout buddy. I'm still going to call and email to bounce baking ideas off you. I do have a couple more months to soak you in, but don't forget about me when you guys move on to bigger and better things!

(McAlisters of course)I'm sorely going to miss your histarical stories, and your obsession with mullets and taking pictures or being in the picture with them.

(You didn't know I still had this pic did you?)

Katie, why don't I have more pictures with you?! We need to rectify this before you leave...

Fredericksburg Trip

Ryan & I just got back from our weekend getaway in Fredericksburg, Texas. If you want to learn more about the German town, Fredericksburg, click here. We decided to go there for Memorial Day weekend to celebrate our three year anniversary. We've heard so many great things about it and thought it would be the perfect little trip.
It was bigger then we thought. There is a main drag called... you guessed it, Main Street. There were a ton of cute little shops that included boutiques, wineries, furniture stores, ice cream parlors, gift shops, restaurants and my personal favorite bakeries. Plus a ton more that would take me forever to list.

One particular bakery I had to try was Rather Sweet Bakery & Cafe. They have been featured in many magazines and have their own recipe books. This is how I actually first heard of Fredericksburg through Ryan's mom. She owns two of their recipe books and has gone to Fredericksburg just to stop by this place. So of course it was high on my list to try.
It was adorable! On our first day we just had some of their baked goods, and we stopped by there again on our last day for a delicious breakfast.
Fredericksburg is so cute and quaint. If the shops weren't on Main Street they were all in cottage homes. They even had law, insurance and medical offices in cottage houses. I thought it was a little odd to see an Urgent Care sign outside of a cute house with a wrap around deck and rockers in front of it. Didn't seem so urgent to me!
Some of our good friends Jon & Katie had just been there and told us to stop by Rustlin Rob's Texas Gourmet Foods. It is filled with all kinds of dips that you can sample throughout the store. They have salsas, dressings, cream cheese with jelly on top, seasonings and hot sauce. Speaking of hot sauce... Of course Ryan tried like three salsas and then saw a sign for the hottest hot sauce and he HAD to try it. We even just saw a couple sample it before us and they were in tears. So I whipped out the camera to get in action shot of Ryan.
Before the drama...
The danger signs. You must be 18 years or older to try it.
The aftermath. I took a lot of other pictures that weren't as flattering so I will just keep to this one. :) Ryan thought he was having an allergic reaction. I've never seen him in so much pain from eating something hot. He thought he was the master of hot sauces until then.
I felt sorry for him and decided to try the tiniest amount possible just so I could say I tried it. This was the effect...
I immediately started tearing up and coughing. We both downed the closest thing to drink and we were still was on fire. It took awhile to get our taste buds back but we did buy that hot sauce. Please don't ask me why.
After all that excitement it was time to check into our bed & breakfast. It was called the Attic Haus and it was above the owners garage near their own home. It was super cute.
It had everything we needed/wanted but there was just one little problem. It smelled like horrific cat pee!! It was awful. Needless to say, we didn't spend that much time at our bed & breakfast. When we were there we lit a candle to mask the scent. Oh well, I would still recommend b&b's just not this one. :)
It was still cute and well decorated even though it smelled.
This was the pool we could swim in. Unfortunately, it rained for a little bit Saturday & Sunday, but that didn't stop Ryan Sunday morning to still try it out!
The back of the owners home. It had a gorgeous wrap around porch. I LOVED their backyard.
It backed up to a creek.
They also had this cute pool house.
It was perfect for entertaining and it gave me lots of ideas. I'm not sure what that building in the background was but I liked it!
After dropping our stuff off we decided to explore the area by going on a nice long walk. It was so nice and we even saw a herd (or is it pack?) of 15 deer! I've never seen so many together before. Then we got ready and headed out to eat dinner at a place that was recommended to us called Hondo's. Apparently, it was named after some guy that is responsible for making Fredericksburg famous or something like that. They had live country music that we enjoyed while we ate. They had some pretty cool shirts so Ryan decided to get one (or I made him get one :)). Sunday morning after Ryan took a dip in the pool, we drove out to see the Enchanted Rock. Once we got to there, we realize we weren't fully committed to climbing this huge rock. Between the huge line and the pay to park sign we decided a few pics from the road were good enough for this trip. Plus, Ryan & I were both gimps because our right ankles were hurting (that is a whole other story). It was a beautiful drive and still a lot of fun.
Next, we had a date at the Rockbox. Jon & Katie so graciously gave us tickets to see the musical show. Thank you guys! We had a lot of fun and we were in the second row! :) It was a musical production of different decades of music by a group of 8 people, and they change it up every weekend. Ryan & I were definitely the youngest in the crowd but it was a blast.
After that, since we were both out of commission with our ankles, we just decided to sit outside and enjoy the weather. Then we had dinner at a Mexican place and went to see the movie, Star Trek. I liked it even though I'd never really watched Star Trek before.
Monday, we just got ready had breakfast at Rather Sweet, checked out and hit up a few more shops before heading out. Memorial Day traffic is the worst so we wanted to give us plenty of time to get home. It was the perfect relaxing weekend and even got some good shopping time in. More on that later.

Pure Entertainment

This first clip is of the cutest older couple ever! You can't help but smile when you watch it. If you know me, then you know I have a HUGE heart for the elderly. I have always volunteered or worked somewhere where I could interact with them. They are pure joy and entertaining at that! Since college I have not had the opportunity to get back into spending time investing in the elderly but I know they will always be a big part of my life.

This video kind of reminded me of Ryan! Ha! I hope this is what we will be like 60 some years from now. I could only hope to be that blessed. (Getting a little sentimental right before our anniversary.)

The second clip of the post comes via my camera. Some of you already know our cats, but those of you that don't, should know they are incredibly entertaining. I really should put them on a show or something. Back when Ryan & I first got married we bought a very nice (read: expensive) furry throw for our bed. I thought it really completed the look of our bedding. Well, here comes along Yogi and the next thing I know I hear purring. I look over to see Yog's kneading the blanket and suckling it. It was like he was trying to nurse it and the blanket was his mommy! I about died. Eventually, we gave in and it is no longer a nice addition to our bedding, it is yogi's security blanket. To this day he still nurses the thing. So I got a clip of it just so show you all and I hope you are entertained. (It's kind of hard to see b/c he blends in with the blanket, but you get the idea.)
