Happy (late) Birthday Sister Emily!

Happy Birthday Emily! Sorry I didn't get this posted yesterday ON your birthday. :( Ryan & I wish we could be there to celebrate but then again you will be here next weekend!! Can't wait! I've posted a few of my favorite pics of you. I can't believe it's been over four years since the pic in California! Miss you lots. When we went to visit Emily in Los Angeles, California. Emily came to visit us in Houston! We went to Kemah's board walk. On a little train tour. Siblings. Sally, Emily and Ryan.
Emily we are so glad you are back in Kansas for now. :) We will get to see you even more! It stinks that we had to move farther away at the same time that you moved closer. Though, we do get to see you at more family events. It can't be all bad! Love you.

Happy Birthday Lindsey!

I have created a picture montage to tell the story of Lindsey & I's friendship through the years in honor of her big day, January 29th!!

We obviously like to have fun together! Random story. We actually went to rival high schools, were both cheerleaders and went on the same senior cruise and never met each other until college! We eventually met during rush at Kansas State University were we both pledged Pi Beta Phi. We sat next to each other in a 'get to know you' activity. We instantly bonded. Fuller (Lindsey's nick name which is her maiden name) even spent the very first night of college on my dorm room floor due to her psycho roommate. Whole nother story there. :)
We enjoyed going to KSU football games together. Always had to look cute.
Had fun being on the other side of rush and entertaining each other with back handsprings in the hallways of Pi Phi while we were bored.
Had tons of fun going to MANY date parties. Fuller was a social butter fly.
We were roommates at Pi Phi as well as in a house our senior year. The picture below is of Michelle, Lindsey & I. We were all roommates at Pi Phi and we got a kick out of the fact that my name is Lindsey Michelle and I roomed with Lindsey & Michelle. We both met our husbands at KSU. Another random fact is both our husbands are from small towns right next to each other in Kansas. They knew each other growing up and they were rival schools too! Lindsey even came to visit us when we moved to Houston the first time and...
... Brad & her decided to move there! Long story short we both now live in Houston. :)
Linds, it has been so much fun getting to know you and becoming such good friends over the years. I really couldn't imagine my life without 'Fuller'. You bring energy, spice and charisma to every situation and it makes life so much more interesting. I can't wait to see what the future brings for you.

1. As I said earlier in another post, we are completely addicted to Canasta. Again this weekend Brad, Lindsey, Ryan & I played not just Friday night but also Sunday night! (Lindsey you are going to kill me!) Brad even returned the 2 deck card shuffler and bought a 4 deck shuffler because the 2 deck wasn't cuttin' it!! We are serious about our game. We could give any old lady a run for her money playing this game. Ha!
2. Ryan & I are completely addicted to LOST. I hesitate to say this but... we watched the ENTIRE 4th season this weekend so we could get caught up to this season. We're committed. What can I say? We had DVRed the season premiere but couldn't watch it until we got caught up. I must say TOTALLY worth it. If you have not jumped on board with this show you must!! We are so wrapped up in it and it entertains us unlike any other show.
3. Tonight I just finished reading The Shack. I am obsessed with this book. I have already bought and gave away three other copies to family members and I will be lending my copy to two other friends to read it. I was captured by the essence of God in this book and how it portrays a relationship with him. It also opened my eyes to how God is love and the only way to truly love another is through him. Even to experience true forgiveness, true healing, true anything is through him. You have got to go borrow or pick up a copy to read it. I promise you it will touch you.

Have a safe trip Sally!

Sally left this morning for Italy, and we couldn't be more excited for her. She will have so many fun and unique experiences as she is studying abroad. Sally, you better keep us updated on all your adventures so we can live vicariously through you! I really think Ryan is going to have a heart attach worrying about you, but I will try and keep him calm. :oP He feels like he can't protect his little sister all the way in Italy! We already miss you and hope you make it to Italy without any bumps in the road. We can't wait to come visit and update us often. Love you!!

Oh My!

My poor toe! I had to have yet another minor surgery on my big toe due to wearing too small of shoes back in May. See here for the story. I really should get on a soap box or something about that. Trust me, I will NEVER do that again. Luckily, Ryan was there to hold my hand while I was getting shots to numb my toe. That is the worst part! There is no way to describe how painful those shots are so I will spare you. My poor husband got the short end of the stick because I about squeezed his hand off! Even though he thought he was in more pain, I was glad he was there. However, I did get to leave in this stylin' plastic bag and green slipper.

Notice the smiley face... I was not smiling!
It looks worse then it really is. I'm hoping my toes will be recovered by Italy so I can get a nice pedicure before we leave. (I think I deserve it!)
KC was supporting me from the basket.
Oh and the best part was Ryan bought me TWO Nestle Toll House cookies from their bakery by our house to make me feel better. :o) He knows me too well. <3

Fingers crossed that this is the last of this mess.

Weekend Wrap Up

So if you all were wondering where you might find Ryan & I on any given week or weekend night, you might find us here...
Yes, this is Ryan & Brad throwing up a "C" for Canasta. We are huge nerds and we admit it. But we are addicted to this game! We can't get enough. My grandma taught me to play when I was little and I taught Ryan. Through a series of events we found out that Brad & Lindsey know how to play too and love it as much as we do!! Unbelievable!! If you don't know how to play this game you need to learn. Ryan loves the strategy part of it. Let me just say our nerdiness even extends as far as the boys buying a card shuffler to protect the cards... (Sorry Linds, I know this embarrasses you). I can't tell you the countless nights we have spent playing this game.

After working up an appetite from playing Canasta we headed to Chili's Friday night. I am IN LOVE with the Chocolate Chip Molten dessert. It is a must have!! I am drooling just thinking about it. (And yes the boys are still throwing up the "C" sign. I don't know why since Linds & I creamed them!! Ha!)
After we played one more game after dinner, Ryan & I headed home. Ryan started really coming down with a cold that night. It seemed to increase as we were just driving back to our house! Needless to say, we had a rough night and rough rest of the weekend. I spent most of Saturday and Sunday taking care of my little sickie. Plus, I DEEP cleaned the house because I was worried there might be germs lurking. It felt good to have a clean house and I think it even made Ryan feel better. :) Sunday we tried out a new church that was close to our house. We liked this one the most so far but it was still a little too small for me and I didn't see too many young couples there. It is a fairly new church and has a lot of growing to do. We will probably check it out again. The rest of Sunday was spent watching Red Box movies and vegging out.

I really do try not to blog too much about our cats but it's so hard not too when they are this cute! I was cleaning our comforter and was about to grab it to shake it outside when I found this all tucked in it. Then I went into our bedroom to grab some laundry and I found this guy snuggling with our little stuffed dog. Do you think Yogi is trying to tell us something?? Does he want us to get a dog?? jk!Ryan is doing a lot better and we are relieved that Monday is already over. That is the hardest part of my week! Hope you all had a great weekend.

When in Rome...

... book a ticket to Italy!!! I am soooo excited! Ryan & I just booked our tickets to Italy in March. That is less then two months. Ryan's sister, Sally, is studying abroad there and we are taking a family trip to visit her. AND my mom is coming too! She has a big birthday this year and has never been to Europe (Ryan & I haven't either) so I thought, "What a perfect way to celebrate her birthday?!". Now that our ticket is booked and it's set in stone we have to start planning what all we want to do. Our plan is to hit up most of the hot spots in Italy and even venture over to the south of France. I actually have family that live there that we will try and visit. I will keep you all posted on our plans. It hasn't really set in that we are actually going!! AHHH!!

The Idol

Nothing much going on right now, which is how I like it! :) Today we went to work, hit the gym, and then ordered Chinese take out. Right now we are watching the Wild Cats being slaughtered by the Hawks... Boo. But when Ryan gives up watching the beating we will be watching... American Idol!! I can't wait. We even discussed our excitement during lunch at Taco Bell (where else would we be?). This show is one of our favorites to watch together. Is anyone else excited for the new season??
Not too much else going on this week. I am starting to research more church's for this upcoming Sunday so maybe we won't strike out again. I am planning on deep cleaning our house and maybe working on a few projects. I will have to show you guys later. Well, I am off to convince Ryan to give up on the basketball game and watch some real talent! Ha!

Weekend Fun

This weekend went by way too fast, but it was packed with fun. Friday night Ryan cooked Chicken Parmesan and baby potatoes, mmm mmm. We just laid low that night and played some Wii. Saturday morning Ryan went to play basketball with the guys and I was going to tag along to work out but had to stay home because a repair man was coming out. Our fireplace is the kind that you click on and off & sometimes it doesn't always click on, so the guy came and fixed it. Then we watch K-State get beat by OU in basketball. :( After that we ventured out to the Galleria for a little shopping. I love window shopping. Our friend Mark called us and invited us to a wine bar that night. So we all went to New York Pizzeria together and then hit the wine bar with friends. We mostly people watched and chatted it up with the group. It was amazing to me to see all the 40-50 year olds out on the prowl! See below: (We found a cougar) :P

Mark & Ryan
(Cougar) Today Ryan & I wanted to try out another church but was again unsuccessful. It was a little sketch so we didn't go in. We ended up doing a bible study of our own this morning and then went to Denny's for brunch. The best part of our day was when we went to the Starving Local Artist sale. They had all kinds of paintings for cheap and they are all unique! We were so excited we found something for above our fireplace. After that, we grabbed a movie at Red Box, which is my new favorite thing. So cheap! That is a theme with me. :) We have just been watching the play offs and cleaning a bit. All and all a great weekend.

National Championship

Our good friends Jon & Katie graciously had people over for the National Championship on Thursday. They are HUGE OU fans so they were really geared up for the game. As always Katie had an amazing spread of food and goodies. Which of course I couldn't contain myself.

Part of Katie's spread. (Ryan stuck some of his Mountain Dew bottles in there of course)
Katie's beautiful table decor.
The on lookers Jon getting very into the game. He's always the entertainment at sporting events. Jon with the round of high fives right after OU's first touch down. (Notice the football he did not put down all night :) Unfortunately, OU had some missed/bad calls and the game didn't turn out how we would have hoped. The Big 12 is still the best in my book!
