Close Call

We had such a wonderful holiday with family and friends, but we did have a close call. We were on our way to Lyons, KS when we got a call that Ryan's grandma, Georgia May, was having a heart attack! The ambulance was taking her to Hutchinson so we just diverted there. Luckily, we were already headed in that direction. By the time we got there she already had surgery to remove the blockage in her heart, went to recovery and now was in ICU. They told us her heart rate was in the 40's and it should be in the 70's!! Georgia apparently has a heart murmur that she has been living with for years, but amazingly she has a very strong heart at the age of 91 almost 92! She is such a trooper. Ryan & I just spent time with her in the hospital and the next day she had a pacemaker placed on her heart to get her heart rate back in the 70's. She should be feeling better then she has in a long time. We were so thankful that she was going to be OK. She definitely scared us! Georgia May has a lot more years to share with us and we are excited she is sticking around to continue to be a blessing to her family.

This is one of my favorite pictures of her and Ryan's sister, Sally.

Merry Christmas!

We made it into Kansas City on Christmas Eve safely. Praise the Lord! I think Ryan had times when I was driving that he thought we weren't going to make it. :oP We broke up the trip a bit by stopping off in Dallas to see my Godmother and Rocky. I think it's like 12 hours straight through from Houston to Kansas City! That's a little rough. So needless to say we were extremely grateful to have a stopping point in between and see some family.

On Christmas Eve, Ryan's parents and sisters got into town and we all (including my mom) went out to dinner at Smoke House BBQ. So good! And then we all went to the Candle Light service at my home church. We were pretty tired but it was so good to be reminded of the reason for Christmas. Ryan & I felt so blessed to be able to spend some real time with our families together. When you can't see them everyday it makes you really cherish the moments you do have with them. Christmas was filled with gift giving, lots of delicious goodies, and family time. My mom prepared an amazing meal for lunch and then we played a rousing game of Charades (see pictures below). Then later on that day we went over to Ryan's aunt's house to see the rest of the family and the new babies that are new to the fam. It was so fun to see everybody again. We have a packed schedule while we are here in KC. Ryan is an usher in a wedding of a good friend of his and we have lots of friends and family to still see! Can't wait!

Merry Christmas everyone! This weekend Ryan & I are just hangin low before the rush of Christmas starts. I just finished wrapping all the gifts which left me wiped out! Tomorrow I will start furiously baking all kinds of goodies. We only have to work two days this week and then off to Kansas City. I can not wait! I am pretty home sick right now and a trip to KC to see family and friends will be just what I need. I will take lots of pics and try to document everything. My memory is not the best so these posts really help remind me of moments I might have forgotten. Well, I'm off to finish cleaning so I will leave you with a blog Christmas card. Have a fabulous weekend ya'll!

4 Year Dating Anniversary

This past weekend my Prince Charming surprised me with Nutcracker tickets for our 4 year dating anniversary!! What a romantic guy. :) We starting dating Dec. 17th 4 years ago. I can not believe how time has just flown by. There is no way to comprehend how much we have changed and molded into each other. We've learned so much about one another and I know we still have a life time ahead of us to continue learning. I am one lucky girl to be able to call this man my husband. I love you babe!
At our front door before we left for dinner.

Dinner at PF Changs. One of our favorites places to eat.
At home after the Nutcracker production. (I meant to take pictures at the theatre but we were running late and ran in before they closed the door. No late seating!) I am holding our little Nutcracker Ryan bought for me to remember the night. <3

You would not believe

You would not believe the week I've had! Sheesh! It started back at Thanksgiving when my mom thought she was coming down with something, but she thought it was more likely allergies. Well she left a parting gift. :) Ryan ended up catching the cold and therefore pasted it to me. I don't know how this happens but I always seem to get it 10 times worse then he does plus it inevitably turns into a sinus infection! He says its because he has such a good immune system. Yeah right! So as I was battling through the snots my right toe starts hurting like "whoa".

*Side note. I hurt both of my big toes this past summer from wearing too small of shoes when I went on a looooong walk with a good friend of mine. She graciously let me borrow her shoes since I forgot mine and I was out of town. Long story short, my big toenails on both feet ended up turning black and having to be removed! EWWW! So that has been a saga (sp?) all on its own. Thanks Fuller! (wink, wink) Moral of the story... DON'T WHERE TOO SMALL OF SHOES!!

I ended up having to go to the Podiatrist on Monday and he removed the left edge/side of my nail and burned it with acid so it wouldn't grow back and continue to hurt like none other! Probably more info then you were wanting... All and all I have been exhausted this week and still trying to learn my new job. I did get on an antibiotic for the toe and it has helped my sinus infection. Killed two birds with one stone! So I am over the hump. Speaking of which... Happy Hump Day!

This was a picture of when I first had my toe nails worked on and I had to soak them in Epson salt. So Ryan wanted to be supportive and do it with me. awww How sweet is he?? (The water was super HOT!)

I have a lot of pictures in this post! A lot to catch up on. Thanksgiving was wonderful with all our family in town. We had so much fun just hanging out, eating, playing games and going to movies. We saw Quantum of Solace and Australia, both were very entertaining and I recommend seeing them! It was so fulfilling to get in some good family time and it was sad to see them go. ;(

Thanksgiving dinner was delicious! This was our most successful family picture we took all week!
Ryan, Mary, Emily, Sally, Harlan and Susan (no face!)
We got some tennis time in. Harlan was fetching the balls that flew over the fence for us. So sweet.
This picture was proof that Susan was on Harlan's side when the ball came to him and he missed! Some how she ended up on his side and blocked his shot because she got in front of him. Too funny.
Look at this pro go!
Her victory dance.
Harlan showing us how its done.
Oh so graceful mom!
I don't even know what you would call this move, but you can see the ball is no where near the racket! Ha!
What can I say? This guy has some hot moves! I may be a little partial. :)
Emily is going for style points here.
We have the true blue pro here making it look so effortless. This took years to prefect.
I think she is angered here and could possible throw her racket at me! No pics of the pro please!
And then there was me... not paying attention to the ball flying past me.
Emily brought all sorts of fun games! I wish we had more time to play them all. Here we were playing Sally's game called salad bowel.
Of course I can't leave out the kitties in the Thanksgiving festivities! KC thought he had a pretty good hiding spot...
We couldn't pass up an opportunity to play with him! He had to peek to see what was messing with him.
I would say that was a pretty good wrap up to a great time with the family. We will get to see them again soon for Christmas when Ryan and I travel up to Kansas City. No other real news other then me just getting settled into my new job this week.
